it's all about the animals

Volunteering at Lucky's

Being a 501(3)(c), Lucky's Place relys on their Volunteers to help get the job done. If you would like to be part of the AHA Team and have time to volunteer, we do need help cleaning, feeding, grooming, walking the dogs, socializing the animals, etc. Volunteers need to be 16 years of age unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Highlight of my week! Two years ago I felt the need to give back to the community, so I volunteered for a couple of organizations. When I found myself short on time, one organization went by the wayside. But nothing could induce me to give up my mornings at the animal shelter. Not only do I enjoy the people that work there, but interacting with the dogs is the highlight of my week.

It's impossible not to fall in love with them. A few hours a week may not sound like much, but it allows me to get to know the dogs, give them some extra attention, and help out those that work tirelessly on their behalf. I'm now passionate about the right of every animal to have a loving home as well as the need to spay or neuter pets. Someday I hope to be able to foster on a regular basis.

Giving Back. We have always felt very fortunate for all that we have, and we are reminded of this daily when we hear about all that is going on in the world. Eventally, we decided we needed to be giving back to our communtiy. And so, we gave the animal shelter a call. Once we started volunteering, we realized how much help the animals needed!!! At the shelter, there are so many things to do, whether your interest is walking dogs, cleaning, cuddling cats, or helping with fundraisers. Although it is tough work sometimes, we always leave there feeling good about helping our community and the animals.

I have been helping out with special events and whatever else is needed, but mostly walking dogs at Lucky's Place for a few months now. It is a wonderful way to directly affect the daily life of a dog and enjoy a walk in the country! Even after what all the dogs have been through, it is amazing how happy and carefree they are when you share this time with them. Dogs live in the moment and spending these moments with them allows me to do the same. They are an inspiration to me.

Does my heart Good

We all lead busy lives It makes a person happy and feel needed to give a little time to animals that are homeless and probably would not make it on their own. I've learned how important it is to have a no-kill shelter in Star Valley. It is a wonderful to see a pet adopted or hear someone say they help support Lucky's Place

Our Programs

Low Cost Spay/Neuter

From time to time we will receive grants that enable us to assist the community with a portion of the cost of spay or neutering your pets. Thanks to PAWS of Jackson Hole and Dr. Heather Carlton, Animal Adoption Center in Jackson for their grants programs.

We offer foster care to dogs and cats by opening our hearts and homes to temporarily shelter for needy animals. If you could only assist in fostering for a short time or on an emergency basis if even for only a few days or a week we could sure use your help.

Open a place in your heart and you will receive much more in return. Lucky’s Place is NOT county or city owned or operated shelter it does not receive funds from local city governments. It is wholly run and mainained by volunteers.
